A few reasons why it is important that your site can be accessed by the disabled:
- It is law in many countries with test cases being won.
- There are an estimated 40 million blind user around the World
- Around 10% of the World's population is disabled in some way
- Some people will visit your website via screen readers or text only browsers
- Not everyone can use a pointing device such as a mouse
- Not everyone uses an Internet Browser that supports Java, Javascript, Flash, or ActiveX controls
This is a huge and often untapped market because we can almost guarantee your competitor went with a design company who didn't, or couldn't because of lack of skill, take any of this into account. You would have a massive advantage over your rivals not only because we can design the pages so the disabled can view them but also because we don't use applications that restrict the visitor like JavaScript and Flash.
